How the calculation works

Revenue = accounts × selling price. Contribution per account = selling price × (1 − payment fee / 100) − wholesale cost. Estimated result = accounts × contribution − other costs. Break-even volume rounds other costs divided by positive contribution up to a whole account.

For the example above, revenue is 200, contribution is 4.70 per account, the estimated result is 74 and break-even volume is 5 accounts. The margin is 37%. These are arithmetic examples, not promised earnings.

What to include in your assumptions

Account for support time, payment fees, advertising and administration. Taxes, refunds, failed payments and unentered costs are excluded. Match annual costs to annual revenue or monthly costs to monthly revenue. A credit purchase is not necessarily equal to the cost of one customer account.
